Doctors are seeing an increase in eczema, allergies, and asthma – AND IT’S NOT A COINCIDENCE

“Atopic March” or “Allergic March” – Never heard of it? No worries, if you have severe eczema…chances are you probably have it!

The “atopic march” leads to a sequence of allergic diseases that starts when a child is diagnosed with eczema at a young age. This extends to food allergies, asthma, hay fever, and more.

In the article, it talks about how parents can prevent this by applying the soak and seal method. To be honest, I’m not convinced that this works. Once you have eczema it’s a difficult beast to maintain and it more than likely too late to use this method regardless. And unfortunately, eczema is more than just a skin condition, as it tends to be a chain reaction to other ailments.

It’s very frustrating to read articles like this because the solutions are vague. As we focus more and more on finding “treatments” and “cures for eczema we’re missing the bigger picture.

PREVENTION.

Doctors, researchers, and patients have all put time energy and effort into trying to figure out this puzzling condition. There are reports that eczema starts with a lack of a protein called filaggrin in the skin. This protein protects the skin barrier from outside allergens and environmental factors.

Why this protein doesn’t properly form for some people is still a mystery. One that can hopefully be solved with more research in the future.
