This story has been blowing up all over the news. MIT researchers have created a “second skin” that can be applied to your normal skin. Created by common chemicals that form an invisible elastic film.

Scientist then were inspired to create a product helping those with medical or cosmetic purposes.

“The film can also help treat a handful of skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis by protecting dry, patchy skin, and keeping it hydrated and covered.” – http://www.cnn.com/2016/05/10/health/second-skin-polymer-wrinkles-irpt/

In order for this to work there is a two step process:

  1. Clear liquid is applied
  2. Secondary lotion

While this process still has some kinks to work out, its been tested on a group of volunteers. The claim those who use this, do not have to worry about sweating or washing the film off after application and the film easily dissolves off the skin. After a few days edges will loosen to the effect of scotch tape. Then you just pull it right off.

They are dubbing this the ‘Spanx for the skin’. This is actually pretty interesting, although the better solution would still be to find the cause of eczema and psoriasis!
