New Device Prevents Hair Loss During Chemo
This is a HUGE advancement for those suffering hair loss from chemo. DigniCap (http://www.dignicap.com/) a Swedish company came up with a device that reduces activity of hair follicles during chemo in breast cancer patients.
This works by placing a neoprene cap on a patients head all throughout the treatment. They connect it to a computer which controls the cooling unit with near-freezing temperatures. This helps reduce blood flow in their scalp. In addition, it slows down new cells to prevent more damage from continued treatment.
Not only is this a wonderful advancement but it will help breast cancer patient deal with the emotional impact. Now if we could only work on getting those expensive bills cut down so cancer patients were in debt that would be the icing on the cake.
